Yadokari made for a relaxed couple of nights by the beach. We spent time in the downstairs common room listening to music, playing dice and card games, and eating snacks. The bar had island music on, and we could smell the barbecue cooking outside. The owner was very accommodating. Our Japanese is limited, but he chatted with us in a bit of English while we did our best in broken Japanese. When he found out we liked gin, he made us a drink with his favorite gin to try. We’d highly recommend Yadokari for an easygoing stay, and it’s worth exploring the small town by bike to see its beautiful historic shrines.

The family running this onsen are so kind, and the place feels like home as soon as you walk in. It’s very clean and has plenty of amenities. Definitely a great place to stay when visiting the Utsumi area. Thanks for everything.

Really nice people, and the bath is huge.

Back for my second stay, and we were welcomed by a young couple, their child and their dog. They treated us far better than the low price would suggest, and we were very happy with everything. The bath had great water pressure, and the toilet was clean and had a reasonably priced toilet bowl. The building is older, but the room was spacious. The Wi-Fi only reached the second floor, so this time we couldn’t leave the room, lol. On my last visit it didn’t reach us at all, so we relaxed in the first-floor living room while editing our YouTube videos. It’s working now, and even the setup before felt like a sign of the local warmth. My younger siblings live near the beach. This time they brought their swim trunks and sent us a video of them picking up girls. The older guys can’t leave the air conditioner, lol. This place is amazing, highly recommended!

The owner is into DIY, so there are always changes to spot from one visit to the next. The accommodation has lots of photogenic corners inside and out, and taking pictures could be fun. There’s a café attached where you can get a tasty meal, but check Instagram for its hours. During swimming season the inland sea gets noisy, yet here I can forget I’m in Aichi. It gives me the feeling of being on a southern island like Bali.
