The boat was bigger than any of the ones I’d seen parked in the harbor, which helped me feel safe even with the slightly rough waves on January 6. It was my first time boat fishing, and I had a great time. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone trying boat fishing for the first time. The food at Matsushin, where I stayed, was delicious, and the chef and his wife were always smiling and very kind.

I’d definitely come back if I catch another fish. On my first visit, I’d caught a pufferfish on a shared fishing boat and was looking for somewhere to have it prepared. I arrived a little after closing time, but the man who seemed to be the innkeeper gave wonderful service. The woman who seemed to be the proprietress was very kind too. Their welcome was such a nice lift that my fishing fatigue just melted away. Thank you!

Three of us shared one room and had a nice, relaxing time. The food was tasty and fairly priced.

We were on a motorcycle trip, and they let us park in a sheltered spot. There happened to be no other guests, so we could relax with the place to ourselves. The sea was close by, with a fishing port right next door, and we enjoyed peaceful walks. They offer meals without lodging as well as a fishing boat service, so there seem to be several ways to enjoy a visit. My spouse and I decided to come the day before, after our plans suddenly opened up. I found the restaurant on their website and was about to confirm a booking when I noticed the request to phone by around 9 p.m. Since we were going fishing and had an early start, I sent a reservation request through the website, then called on the morning of the visit. They kindly took a same-day booking. We ordered the fugu course, and the homemade food was delicious and clearly prepared with care. We also had oysters and turban shells grilled. It seems to be a family-run place, and everyone was incredibly warm and welcoming. The seasonal local dishes left us very satisfied. The bath isn’t a hot spring, but the water felt soft and warmed us well. When I asked, they said it was filtered with bakuhanseki. It’s open until 11 p.m. and again from 6 a.m.

I stayed one night on December 18 while doing the New Shikoku Pilgrimage. They looked after my backpack, which let me visit the temples without carrying it. I appreciated that thoughtfulness and their hospitality. Dinner and breakfast were both full of seafood, and the simmered sea bream head at breakfast was especially good. The Fugen-yu bath was lovely too, and helped me unwind and ease my tiredness.
