Pension COME

The rooms and bath aren't especially roomy, and you can tell the place has some age to it despite the refurbishment. Still, it's a lovely pension by mount Hakkai, with the look of a Swiss chalet outside and clean, nicely decorated interiors. The staff were helpful, and the atmosphere was relaxing.

The meals were even better than I expected, and the whole interior feels comfortable, with the owner's thoughtfulness and taste showing throughout. Some facilities are showing their age, but everything was clean and looked well cared for. Run by a grandparent family, the inn has a warm, welcoming feel, and I was extremely satisfied with the service during my stay. I'd gladly come back if I get the chance. Thank you very much.

I only stayed the night, before climbing Mt. Hakkai, but they drove me to the base station in time for the 7am Unkai Ropeway. They also sold me a ticket at 20% off. The bathroom had three washing areas and plenty of room, and tea and coffee were there too. A refrigerator in the room would've made it perfect.

At night it was so quiet that we could enjoy the starry sky. The inn is halfway up the slope toward Hakkaisan Ski Resort, surrounded by pensions and rice paddies, with little else around. The building is really cute, and the food was great in both taste and quantity. One downside of being out in nature is that the lights draw in lots of insects. Some kind of insect control would make the place even better.
