The neighborhood was noisy during my couple of nights there. Construction carried on in the daytime, and at night I could hear children loudly practicing Japanese fence at the school beside it. I forgot to take photos, but the stay itself was decent. The staff and service could use some improvement. ✌🏼 The place used to be a mansion, so reception isn’t directly connected to the units. My room had a small kitchen and washing machine, but no dryer. You have to consider whether your clothes will dry in time for the next day or for packing. They gave one detergent pack free, and extra detergent cost money. We bought some for the second day, but it was rainy and there wasn’t enough time to dry clothes, so we didn’t do laundry. They wouldn’t refund the detergent, which was weird, so we took it home even though it wouldn’t work with our drum-type washer. 🤷🏻♀️ The bath and toilet area was tiny, with just one sink for washing hands, brushing teeth, or rinsing dishes if needed. Things missing from the room included bathrobes or pajamas, a bathroom mirror, coffee or tea, and a shoehorn. Haha 🫢

It’s new, clean, and comfortable, though a bit small. The narrow bathroom has no sink or mirror, so we had to brush our teeth and wash our face and hands at the kitchen sink.

We had no idea what to order, but the waitress, maybe the owner, kindly suggested their well-known pork and beef tonkatsu. It was a delight. The restaurant is tiny, and the service was top notch.

The staff are really nice and can communicate in English. The location is close to some attractions, about a 5-minute walk from the tram station and 10 minutes on foot to China street.

We stayed three to a room because the price was reasonable and the location worked for us. The room was cramped, but fine for just one night. Its bunk bed had a single bed above a double. There was a small kitchenette, a fridge, and a washing machine in the room. Each floor has a shared microwave, and you can borrow a clothesline from reception to dry things on the terrace. There’s no dedicated parking, though two spaces by reception can be used for luggage or picking up and dropping off passengers. For cheap overnight parking, Tojinkan Parking charges a maximum of 300 yen from 8 PM to 9 AM. Confucius Temple/Chinese Historical Museum Parking also has a 300 yen overnight maximum, but its hours are a little shorter, from 9 PM to 8 AM. Tojinkan has fewer spaces and was full late at night, so it’s better to park early. Checkout was simple: just drop the key in the designated box, without going to the front desk.
