The rooms were clean and fairly spacious, with hot water, effective air conditioning, and fast, dependable Wi-Fi. The building looks a little old from the outside, but inside I found it clean and comfortable. Staff service was good, though it would help if English communication were a bit better. The rooms have traditional old-fashioned keys, which can be a little inconvenient. There’s a water dispenser, ice machine, and vending machines on the fifth floor. The location is handy, with Ikeshita Station and Kakuōzan Station on the Higashiyama Line each about a 3-minute walk away. There’s a supermarket above the subway station, plus a drugstore and a 24-hour convenience store nearby. I thought it was a good-value hotel.

It had a bit of a grandma's-house feel, and some things in the room were old, but everything worked. There were a few modern touches too, like an air humidifier and bath salts in the amenity kit at reception. The room smelled a little like old cabbage, probably because guests eat in their rooms, but their air freshener covered it easily. I was surprised to find a foldable umbrella rack by the room door. I’d never seen one before.
