The location is convenient and the hotel itself is basic, with decent value for the price. But there were bed bugs in our room, and we were badly bitten. We politely told the staff, yet they seemed unable to handle the complaint. Maybe it was a language issue, but all we got was a pitiful smile and “OK.” We didn’t feel understood, and nobody seemed interested in addressing the problem for future guests or even apologizing. That response was unacceptable. Businesses like this should be avoided.

RJ Hotel is near the port, handy if you’re heading to the Kerama Islands, and there’s a supermarket just a two-minute walk away. The well-known Okinawa shopping streets are about 15 minutes on foot. It’s in the city center but away from the noisy crowds, with spacious rooms and comfortable beds and pillows. Our stay included Asian-style breakfast, so we got to try different dishes each morning. They didn’t clean the room daily, but changed our towels every day during our five nights. Parking is available for 1,000 yen per night, useful if you rent a car.

Good breakfast and good value. The room was clean, the bed was nice, and we slept well. Tomari port is convenient for ferries, and there are 7-Eleven, Family Mart, and Lawson nearby.
