The meals were a real highlight. We tried several dishes that were new to us, and breakfast and dinner were both delicious. The couple who run Miyama Heimat made us feel at home, and the host even gave us a short calligraphy lesson and speaks excellent German. Our one-year-old had a lovely time and slept well, which was a big bonus. We stayed three nights and found it peaceful and heartwarming. We’d love to return.

The house and surrounding area were beautiful, and everything about our stay felt just right. The couple running it were so warm and friendly, and the food was amazing. It was our favorite place to stay in Japan, a great spot for a countryside getaway.

The thatched-roof house feels magical, much like the homes in Kayabuki no Sato further down the road. I’d never stayed in a Japanese youth hostel before and wasn’t sure what to expect, but this ended up being one of the best places I’ve come across. The owners cook delicious meals with plenty of local ingredients and are happy to answer any questions. Thanks for having me. I’ll definitely come back!

The traditional house was clean, and we really liked both the place and our hosts. The chicken and egg dishes were especially delicious. Thanks for the chocolate, and Merry Christmas!
