We took a lacquer class the day after our stay, and the people running it were lovely and friendly. Bed and Craft offers these craft classes alongside its rental houses. We stayed in the largest house. It has beautiful wood floors, walls, and decor, plus modern conveniences including a large kitchen. The interior alone makes it worth a visit. It's a bit farther from the shopping and historical area than the other houses, but still an easy walk of about 12 minutes.

Our dinner and breakfast were amazing, and the staff were wonderful. I took so many photos for design inspiration. The home is beautifully appointed and made a fitting place to stay while visiting the glass, copper, and wood centers in Toyama, Takaoka, and Imani. We only had one delightful night and wished we could have stayed longer. The space was inspiring, and I love the idea of staying in artisans' homes. Beautiful!

We stayed for two nights in a spacious, comfortable, beautifully appointed house close to the center of this small town. Communication with “ reception” was seamless. It was a lovely quiet break during our three-week holiday in Japan. If you want a genuine Japanese experience a little off the beaten path, this is a great way to get it. Kyoto is worth visiting, of course, but come here too for peaceful hiking and temples without crowds of tourists.

We only stayed one night and wished we'd booked more. Inami is quiet and peaceful, with plenty to see if you enjoy crafts and woodcarving. You can walk the main streets and see artisans at work in their shops. Check opening days for any specific places you want to visit, since some shops and restaurants take holidays on different days. We still managed to do everything we wanted and had a wonderful time. At TATEGY-YA, the design details beautifully showcase the villa artist's work. It's an architectural and interior design lover's dream, with room for a large group and everything needed for cooking, relaxing, and sleeping, including tatami and Western beds. The free minibar was nice, and the smoked potato chips from their restaurant may be the best I've ever had. A tablet has information about amenities and lets you contact the concierge. They even opened Kinomi for us the next day so we could browse the artisans' work before leaving. From the moment we arrived, Bed and Craft made us feel looked after. We came by public bus from Kanazawa Station, about 1.25 hours, and were welcomed at the B+C Lounge with a drink and snack. They explained the town and the villas, helped with our bags to and from the lounge, and called us a taxi to the Shinkansen station when we left. I loved how thoughtfully Bed and Craft focuses on Inami and its artisans. The service was incredible. My friend and I had an amazing stay at Bed and Craft and TATEGU-YA villa. Before we arrived, I'd been emailing concierge Miyako-san for months. She was friendly, answered all my questions, helped book our woodcarving workshop, and kindly handled changes to our guest count while I was coordinating with several people. Everything about B+C was five stars. Thank you for creating such an unforgettable experience!

Inami is small but fun to explore, with its woodcarving and craftsmanship. You can take a carving class or watch masters making Buddhist status and small wooden decorations in their shops. If you're looking for somewhere fresh to visit in Japan and enjoy mountains, I'd recommend Inami and the surrounding towns. We stopped here for two nights on a drive from Toyama to Karuizawa. Getting here by car from Toyama was easy. Tategu-ya, Bed & Craft's largest house, was clean and comfortable, with lots of beds and small divided rooms. The staff at the check-in lounge were friendly, and the service was flawless.
