Inkyoya Hostel

For the price, I’d definitely recommend this place, even though it can’t compete with a luxury inn. The bedroom floor was a little dusty, which was a drawback, but the bathroom was kept clean and I appreciated that. The owner, who’s from Naoshima, runs the place by himself. He’s easy to talk to, whether you want travel tips or just a casual chat. When I stayed, most of the other guests were from overseas, though apparently there are times when more Japanese guests stay. The original home’s kitchen and living room connect, and that open space is shared by guests. There’s a big sofa, plenty of room to relax, and we got into all kinds of lively conversations. The beds aren’t crammed into the bedroom, leaving a useful area to sort your luggage. If you’ve stayed in a dorm or youth hostel before, you’ll know how to make yourself comfortable here. It also helps to take care of dinner and shopping at Miyanoura port, where there are lots of shops and convenience stores. The host lets you use the refrigerator. Thanks for looking after us.
