We had dinner and breakfast included, and the plan was totally worth it. The food was yummy with lots of variety. They also had free yukatas in a wide range of sizes. We made a little tea time in the room with the tea set and deer-shaped cookies. The gift shop was great too. I picked up an adorable deer-themed Rubik's cube keychain and some amazing strawberry caramels. The outdoor hot spring was lovely and did wonders for my aching legs. The women's onsen view was blocked by temporary construction, but I still enjoyed it. A TV in the room had tons of useful information in English about the ryokan and hot springs, which helped us feel prepared and comfortable in an unfamiliar place. Such a highlight of our trip. The place felt nostalgic and cozy. Front desk staff were super helpful and spoke English. After checkout, we left our luggage there while we explored the deer park, and they lent us umbrellas in the rain.

The breakfast we chose was healthy and delicious. Across from the ryokan there's a lake, and a konbini in a small park where about 4-5 resident deer hang around peacefully. You can buy deer crackers at the konbini to feed them. We had a wonderful time here and liked the private onsen. Public baths are free, while the private one can be reserved for a fee. The tatami room and futons were cozy, warm, and comfortable during our January winter stay. The English-speaking staff were very friendly. The room came with a yukata, socks, slippers, and towels. At reception there's a toiletries buffet where you can pick up toothbrushes, combs, and more. They also provide POLA shampoo, conditioner, body wash, lotions, and even hair tonic. You really don't need to pack much. Reception also has free freshly brewed coffee, tea, herbal tea, and ice cream, plus there's a beer vending machine and a small gift shop. Lovely ryokan, highly recommended.

The room was comfortable, spotless, and well organized, and everything went smoothly without stress. From the moment we arrived, the staff were incredibly kind, welcoming, and ready to help with whatever we needed. We'd definitely stay here again and recommend it.

The staff are lovely, with warm hospitality and smiling faces that make you feel at home. The hotel offers coffee and tea by reception every day, and we also had a fantastic shiatsu massage. Its location is handy for the major temples and attractions in Nara, with a convenience store right across the street. We stayed two nights. The place feels like it hasn't changed since the 90s, and the carpets and decor could use some updating. It's a modern ryokan with separate baths for men and women, and those were great. The beds are laid on the floor and are a bit hard. Other than that, it's a fantastic place, and we'd stay again if we visit Nara.

We only had one night here, which is a real pity. I chose Asukasou for a special birthday experience and memories for my wife, and it was probably the highlight of our whole stay in Japan. The service was friendly and very helpful. We loved the traditional breakfast, though it was maybe a bit too much for me. Our large, cozy Japanese-style room had tatami, its own bathroom, and a balcony looking over the hotel's garden. There's also a cute little garden, plus several private and shared onsens. We tried both kinds and had a great time. The location made it easy to walk to the train station and famous spots like Nara park with all the deer, Todai-ji, and the other temples.
