The outdoor onsen was peaceful, and soaking there while it snowed was a real treat. It's a fun place to wander around and take it easy. I had a great time and hope to come back in another season.

Come for the buffet, stay for the buffet. That's the Hotel Epinard Nasu experience. They have a medal gaming center that feels like gambling for kids, and give out free medal coupons if you go to breakfast early or get massages. I'm still trying to make sense of that quirk. They should hide free medal tickets in funny places around the hotel.

We had an amazing course dinner at the Japanese restaurant, and breakfast was a varied buffet. The hotel felt like a whole town of its own, with excellent rooms and amazing service.

Tucked away in the forest, this resort had incredible buffet food and superb views.

The grounds were lovely for a walk, with stunning mountain views, and dinner was phenomenal, everything tasted great. The hotel also has lots of amenities, including a pool and hot springs. But our room wasn't clean when we checked in. There were remnants in the toilet, water marks on cups that looked used, and rings on the tables from the previous guest's drinks. Seeing those obvious misses made me worry about what else hadn't been cleaned. At this price per night, I expected a clean room. It's a shame, because the rest of the visit was really nice.
