Pension Fryingpan

We spent a week here while snowboarding in Niseko. The place was lovely, just a two minute walk from the slopes, and the staff were amazing and happy to help. The owner even went out of her way to find a milk substitute for breakfast without us asking. I'd stay again 100%.

The Annupuri Gondola is really close, so this is a great base for snowboarding. Our hosts arranged rental gear at a much cheaper rate than the shops, and the equipment was better quality too. There's a good basement for drying everything overnight. The rooms are compact but well kept and warm at night. Breakfast and dinner cost a bit more, but the variety and quality of the home cooking made them worth it.

We finally managed to have steak here this year after three tries over the past three seasons. Before that, they were always out, so we went elsewhere. We reserved and ordered three steaks. My wife and friend got fantastic cuts cooked perfectly medium (see pic 1). Mine was a different, very thin cut, overcooked well-done and dry (see pic 2). I pointed out the difference and complained. They said they'd replace it, but brought back the same steak and explained they didn't have another of the better cut. My wife shared her delicious steak with me, and we left the overcooked one uneaten. They initially tried to charge us for it, but after we complained, it was taken off the bill. The service is good, and their usual steak cut is great. Three stars because they didn't tell us they couldn't provide the same quality cut for everyone, and because it took trying three years in a row to finally get steak there.

I love the chicken chop and sirloin steak, and the beef stew is pretty good too. Warm bread with butter goes so well. It's only a three minute walk, and I'd much rather come here than eat at the nook annupuri. So much better, no brainer for me.
