Midorigaoka Onsen Sauna Business Hotel

For two people, 16,000 yen felt like a rip-off given the location. The building is old, which I can accept, but the place was dusty, stained, and badly dirty. There were bugs inside the fluorescent lights, the air conditioner clearly hadn't been cleaned, and the bathroom smelled bad. The bedspreads were filthy, the bathroom was moldy, and both the toilet and light bulbs were dusty. The public bath closed at nine. Why take guests' money if the rooms aren't cleaned properly? This was the worst accommodation.

The place has a strong Showa-era feel, and the old building does have a nostalgic atmosphere. It could suit someone looking for that experience. I was bothered, though, by how worn the room fixtures were. The shower curtain smelled like cigarettes, and several rails were loose. The first-floor hot spring closes at 9 pm, so because I checked in late, I couldn't have a bath.

There aren't many power outlets for a room this size. The room smelled of cigarettes, so I wouldn't suggest it to someone who doesn't smoke. I tried running the bathroom fan for fresh air, but its noise kept bothering me at night. The private bathroom's curtains smelled moldy, and I spotted a hair in the corner as soon as I came in. I booked that day, so maybe it hadn't been cleaned.

The spring water was good, but the 1,000 yen day-use price is too high. The place is old, dirty, and broken, the shower is awkward to use, and the shampoo and body soap are poor quality. At 500 yen I might have found it acceptable, though Obihiro City has plenty of better choices at that price. I'd go somewhere else.
