We stayed in the downstairs self-contained unit in Hosen Nagaya, a separate building, and it was beautiful and comfortable. It was a great base for exploring the public onsens in town and the nearby Pottery villiage. We also really appreciated the shuttle bus to and from the station. The kitchenette had everything we needed to cook with local produce. The small supermarket in town had plenty of fresh seafood and other food, and the local cafes and restaurants were all great. There was a washing machine with washing powder beside the bathroom, which came in handy. The owners and staff at Kiunsoh were lovely, kind, and helpful. Everyone else we met in the small town was wonderful too. This was one of our favourite stays on the trip. We were very happy we chose it, and would definitely come back if we’re lucky enough to visit again.

We stayed one night, with both dinner and breakfast served in our room. The food was very good. The spring water is diluted, though, and the private bathroom uses circulating tap water with a strong chlorine smell.

After a strenuous but really cool hike along the silver mine trail, coming back to a comfortable room felt great. The staff were lovely and very helpful, and their English was good enough.

The staff were especially kind and upbeat, and gave us helpful information about local attractions and how to get around. The hotel also has a free shuttle to Yunotsu station, tasty food, and a hot spring. We had a good stay!

Of all the ryokan I’ve stayed at so far, this is the best. The food, water, architecture, and decor were all amazing. Nothing to complain about, and I highly recommend it.
