Daiwa Roynet Hotel Oita

Nice hotel, and the staff were very kind and supportive. The rooms are compact, maybe a bit tiny, but super clean and high-tech. Toiletries are good quality, though there’s no moisturizer in the room. Breakfast choices are limited.

It’s OK, but the interior is starting to look old and feels behind modern standards, like a bubble-era hotel that keeps hanging on. The trouser press was great. I found it annoying to have to collect coffee at the front desk every time I wanted a cup. There was also a black mold line along the wallpaper gap between the wall and ceiling, which isn’t cool. Staff were efficient, if a little cold. I’d book this kind of place when everything else is full and I didn’t want to compromise too much.

It’s a comfortable place to stay, with the consistent standards I expect from the Daiwa Royalnet chain. Sadly, it’s become hard to get a room here. Sometimes it’s fully booked even on weekdays, with tourists everywhere. Good for the hotel, but terrible for long-term members like me. Thankfully, I can usually find a room at the Best Western Fino just across the road.

Great location. There’s a convenience store and an onsen nearby, and Oita Arcade shopping street is only a few blocks away.
