Okayama SunShine Hotel

The bathtub is on the narrow side, but the room itself seems fairly roomy for a business hotel, with about 30cm between the bed and vanity. It's a bit of a walk from the station; otherwise it seems fine for this kind of hotel.

I stayed in a twin room at this somewhat old hotel, between Okayama Castle, Korakuen Garden, and Okayama Station. I'd use it again only if I couldn't find another option. It's cheap, and there's parking on the grounds for 1000 yen a night. Watch out for a nearby lot that has no weekend daily limit. The bar district is close, so finding somewhere to drink isn't hard, though popular places are tough to get into without booking ahead. There is only one elevator, so expect possible waits at busy times. A few room details: the twin has just one outlet by the pillow between the beds. The unit bathroom is extremely small. At 180cm and 90kg, I couldn't wash without bumping into things. The individual shampoo and toiletry packets are very hard to open with wet hands, so open them first (lol). On the plus side, budget hotels don't usually provide instant coffee packets, and the razor was surprisingly sharp and good.

The neighborhood is quiet, though the walk from the station is a little long. It has an old Showa-era feel, with a small unit bath. Breakfast is available for 500 yen.

It's an older building, but staying there caused me no problems. The location is convenient and the price is fairly low, which I appreciated.
