We liked our stay so much that, after spending a night here before starting our 6-day bike tour, we booked another room for when we got back to Onomichi. Our room was small, but we had a lovely stay. The staff were fantastic and helped us with everything, including keeping our suitcases while we were away cycling for six days. We had lovely rooms on the upper floors with great river views, and the location was great too. Highly recommend.

The rooftop was a lovely spot to relax and watch the sunset during my one-night stay. The hotel is nicely located near the station and a reasonable walk from the Senkoji observatory. My room was a little small, but since I was travelling solo, it wasn’t a problem. It’s something to keep in mind if you’re sharing with two or three people.
The rooms were spotless, with great views of the island opposite and the port. Mine was a little small, but perfect for me on my own. I stayed a couple of nights before cycling the shimanami kaido, and the location was ideal, in a pretty port town with lovely views and the start of the route. It’s quiet and many shops close early, though some stay open a bit later, so food and drinks should be manageable. I didn’t need much help, but Riko at the bar, I think that was her name, was friendly, polite, and professional. The other staff I briefly met were friendly and polite too.
The rooms were immaculate, clean, and just right for us, despite what some people say about the size. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly. They handled our emergency laundry and looked after our bags while we did the Shimanami Kaido tour, with one night at the hotel, one on the island, then back again. When we returned, our bags and laundry were neatly waiting in the room. There’s a nice entrance with a small bar and a coffee and tea station. A sunny rooftop was perfect for morning Taiji :-). Freshly ground complimentary coffee was much appreciated, since decent coffee can be hard to find early in Japan. It’s an easy walk along the waterfront to and from the train station, and close to bike rentals, shops, and restaurants.
The room was clean and the staff we met were lovely, which is why I’m giving it 2 stars. Otherwise, I can’t recommend this place. For the same price or more than a decent night in Tokyo, Kyoto, or Osaka, the rooms are absolutely tiny, and we could hear people above and below us. It was so uncomfortable that we left a day early.
