Apa Hotel Midosuji Hommachi Ekihigashi

The train station is right nearby, which is convenient. But the staff were so unhelpful. I called the front desk from the room phone, they hung up and didn't help. Customer service seems to mean nothing here. There are better hotels with better service, so if you don't speak their language, I'd stay away.

The hotel is quieter than the other APA hotels I've stayed at, but it’s a long way from the subway and attractions. Getting around inside can be slow too, since one elevator serves all 14 floors and gets crowded. My room was dusty, and a strange vent blew cold outside air almost directly over the bed in the middle of winter. Housekeeping changed the towels and sheets, but the dust, hair, and other dirt stayed exactly where I’d noticed them before the room was supposedly cleaned. Hair ties I used as a check were often missing afterward too. While staff clean each floor, they leave the hallway doors to the outside open for hours, letting winter air pour in. This was worse than my experiences at other APA hotels.

I’d only been in the room for a few hours when I found a bloody tissue under the desk. Disgusting. The dust I’d read about in other reviews was there too, and the floor didn’t look like it had been vacuumed properly, if at all. The room cleaning needs a serious improvement.

For what this place costs, I expected more. The rooms are tiny, and check-in took forever. The staff were very slow, and I couldn’t get by in English. They didn’t explain the included breakfast or how it worked, so I had to ask about everything myself. Same with the WiFi password, which wasn’t listed in the room. Even the bottled water was hotel-branded, so I had no idea what was in it. Pretty disappointing for the price.
