HomeNest Hotel Tennoji

The rooms were very clean, and it’s close to Tennoji station. The staff were kind and helpful. I can fully recommend this hotel, everything was perfect.

Tennoji Stn was nearby, which made things convenient for the Shinkansen, and there were lots of good food options at the station. The shrine was close too. For sightseeing or nightlife, though, you may want to stay farther north west. The place felt modern and updated, with lights and shades controlled electronically. It was quiet, the staff were friendly and helpful, and the price was very reasonable. There’s a mini kitchen in the room and a washing machine on the patio, handy if you’re backpacking or traveling light. I’m not sure why I’d use the kitchen when the station has so much better food. I booked at the last minute. The bed was hard as a rock, like a box platform, and a futon would’ve been softer.

It’s about a 10 minute walk to tennoji station. The room was an okay chic space with some smart controls, plus a mini kitchen. There’s also a washing machine, and you can request detergent at the lobby. The shower area is small, though fine for a quick wash. The bed was incredibly hard, and the blanket was thin and quite small. We were freezing the first night, possibly because I couldn’t figure out the air conditioner’s heater setting. Sirens outside were quite loud every night. They offer eco cleaning each day, with fresh towels and rubbish cleared. What bothered me was that the mini shampoo and body wash bottles, unlike what other hotels in Japan provide, probably lasted a day or less for two people and weren’t always refilled daily. We could ask at the lobby, but after walking around the city all day that was a hassle. Bigger bottles or daily refills would’ve helped. Service was okay overall.

The welcome popcorn was really good. There’s a FamilyMart close by too, where you can use the microwave in the lobby, though people stare as they walk past. The room was nice, with a little kitchen and a washer on the balcony. The beds were stiff but still comfy, sort of like sleeping on moss over a flat rock.
