Hostel Ogk

We needed somewhere at the last minute in Osaka, and Hostel OGK worked out well. It’s a humble, clean hostel that does the job, and the staff are what make it great. Leo was especially helpful and even walked us to the train station, though he didn’t have to. Booking here is a good choice.

We stayed two nights in a private room on a mixed floor. It was clean throughout, the toilets seemed to be cleaned daily, and the staff were friendly. Several train stations and attractions, including the Umeda HEP 5 ferris wheel, are an easy walk away. The shared kitchen and lounge was bright, spacious, and well equipped. I didn’t feel unsafe, but security concerned me: we were told we’d need a code to enter after 10 pm, yet the front door was unlocked when we returned at midnight. The stairwell doors were propped open despite signs asking people to keep them shut, so there was little to stop anyone wandering in.

I stayed in the female dorm, which had plenty of beds and lots of space. It could get a bit noisy when guests came back late, but it was manageable, and the front desk had earplugs. The kitchen on the third floor was handy, though I sometimes saw people there who didn’t seem to be guests, which made me a little concerned about safety. The location was pretty good, around a 10-15 minute walk from the nearest station.

There are a few metro stops nearby, so getting around is easy. The showers were good, and the hostel felt calm, though it also had activities on offer. The beds were roomy and really comfortable. I liked staying here.
