Hostel Zoo

The outside looked nice, but inside it wasn't worth the price for us, and we wouldn't stay again. The rooms were tiny. Our private room was advertised with an ensuite, but it only had a very small shower, with no space to dry off before getting to the bed. The only other showers were on the bottom floor. There was no breakfast, elevator, or laundry. Thank goodness we were on the second floor. Staff were okay, though some didn't speak much English and we got conflicting information about the lockout and where to go. The neighborhood didn't feel like the best, and we didn't feel very safe outside at night.

The main drawback was how sound carried through the hallways and stairwells. If you're a light sleeper, bring earplugs, or you may wake up several times during the night. We had a private room with four bunk beds. It was very narrow, but came with a TV, electric kettle, slippers, and a bath towel and hand towel on each bed. The place had a clean, contemporary look, and it was a quick walk to the subway and very close to Spa World.

The location was really good, just three minutes up from the subway. But there was a smoke smell, and the free WiFi didn't work. The room with a shower had a drain pipe odor, so I wouldn't recommend it. Maybe a room without a shower would be better.

There was no elevator, but the 24-hour desk was handy. The hostel is near Dobutsen-mae station, Qmall, and Abeno Harukas. Our twin double deck room was spacious, though it had no closets, and there was no shared kitchen. For a cheaper price, I found it a better hotel than nearby peace house sachi and hotel raizen because the room and bathroom were better.
