The staff were great, friendly, and helpful. You can come and go at any hour, but staff are only there during the day until 10pm, so check in and collect any luggage before then. There are three showers for the whole building, which can mean a wait in the morning. There's also a pleasant public bath, though it's only open in the evening. The sink, shower, bath, and toilets are all communal and outside the room. They're modern and work fine, but the toilets on the third floor smelled strongly of stale urine, which was extremely unpleasant. You have to take your shoes off and bring them to your room. The room is small but has enough space to move around, with a fridge and a perfectly fine bed. The curtains are too thin and let in light, so I would probably wake with dawn. Towels aren't provided, but you can buy one at the front desk for 400 yen. Hotel Lucky is in Osaka's Shin-Imamiya area, south of Namba, with good access to public transport and an easy walk to the city's southern parts. The price was extremely low, so keep that in mind. If you just need somewhere to crash while visiting Osaka and want to keep costs down, it serves its purpose, and I'd recommend it to a budget-conscious traveller.

The room was spacious, and staying in a studio-style condo made meals cheaper since we could cook and heat things up. Dinnerware was available, and having laundry in the unit meant we didn't have to change floors, which was a plus. There were also several food places nearby, including a Filipino-owned buffet. The location felt a bit sketchy to me, though the subway was just behind the street where the hotel was, and the direct airport line was a few minutes' walk away. We nearly ran into a problem because they didn't reply early enough to tell us they don't really accommodate children. Since that was their fault, they made a special arrangement.

It's a reasonable price, and the rooms are single occupancy only. The beds are low to the ground, bathrooms are shared, and the front desk isn't open around the clock, just from 3 pm until evening. There are only a few showers on the bottom floor.

When I got to the hotel around 11:30 PM, check-in had already closed and they wouldn't let me in. I’d come from Tokyo to Osaka that evening: my flight landed around 8:30 PM, then the train took about an hour and a half. I was left with nowhere to stay and spent the night outside in the cold. The hotel gave no advance warning, flexibility, help, or alternative arrangements. It was a very stressful, difficult experience and showed a serious lack of care for guests. I strongly don’t recommend staying here.

Tsutenkaku is just a stone’s throw away, and there are several train stations nearby without a long walk. The room is spacious and has everything you need. Great price and a perfect Osaka location. We’ll definitely come back.
