Hotel The Grandee Shinsaibashi

The location is great, within walking distance of train stations and nearby attractions. I especially liked the huge bathtub for a soak after a day walking around town. The rooms are large, with lots of amenities, and the private toilet is spacious too. There are four room service options. I liked that they could leave a bag of amenities at the door without the housekeeper coming into the room. Most hotels don’t offer that.

We stayed in the geode room, which was lovely overall. The starry ceiling over the bed when the lights were off was a fun touch. The bathroom layout was odd, though, with the toilet far from the sink on the opposite side of the room, and the bed could’ve been softer. Parking was across the street and cost extra, which was disappointing, but at least it was nearby. Check-in was easy, and the front desk attendant was lovely. There’s a small Cafe just outside the lobby with free coffee, beer, wine, and little desserts, a nice place to sit. The hotel is in the heart of Osaka, close to great food and shopping, so we could walk everywhere. Given the room quality, location, and price, we’d stay again.

The hotel was good otherwise, but the poor beds and pillows made our first few nights miserable. I asked for another mattress topper and they refused.

We had two premium twin rooms on the second floor for our family of four, so each of us got a double bed. What a luxury! The rooms are enormous by Japanese standards, with a sofa and wet room with a spa tub big enough for two. There’s also a separate toilet and a mini kitchenette tucked into a wardrobe, with a microwave, fridge, and four espresso pods supplied each day. The hotel is wedged between two other buildings, so there isn’t much natural light, but the room lighting is fine and we slept really well. All the staff were lovely and helpful. We’d definitely recommend it and would happily come back.
