Tommy, the manager, has stories about giving free hugs all over America, so ask him if you meet him. He set up a hostel above the coffee and bar to meet interesting people from around the world. The place has a fun, hip, bohemian feel and is still affordable. As a foreigner traveling through Osaka, it was easy to drop in thanks to the casual, open-minded crowd. A local artist once came in for toast and ended up playing a couple of guitar songs. On other visits, they’ve had 90s American music at a comfortable volume, easy to talk or work over. There are cozy leather chairs by the bar, warm lighting and some natural light, too. The hand-poured coffee is fantastic. They’ve got Japanese board games and a few in English, plus outlets where you can charge a phone or laptop. It feels like a little hub for local artists.

Linda Hostel 106 is just one station from Osaka Station, with local restaurants nearby and a Santo (public bath) I got to try. The rooms were clean and spacious, and the shared areas had plenty of daylight. There’s a bar on the ground floor that welcomes local people as well as hostel guests, so it’s a nice place to meet others. I stayed there this March and had a great time. The building’s architecture impressed me, and the two guys running it were inspiring and very welcoming. I recommend it for a stay in Osaka.

The people I met there made the stay memorable, and I had a wonderful time. It’s my favorite hostel so far. The staff are friendly, helpful and fun; the dorms are roomy, with good-sized beds and lots of space. I also liked the look of the place. It’s fairly close to the train station and an interesting market.

Tomohiro-san took me to the nearby public bath and to a very good restaurant where we ate delicious yakitoris. He also told me a lot about local culture, which was exactly the sort of information I needed as a tourist. He really cares about sharing it. Linda Hostel 106 feels like a lovely place to learn about Osaka and japanese culture, and I strongly recommend it to tourists and anyone curious about Japan. I got to see the hostel before it opened and was glad to spend a night there. As an architect and designer, I loved how it’s laid out: the steel structure is shown off alongside wood, and there are large windows bringing in sunlight and views of the surroundings. The open spaces make it convenient to stay in. There’s a bar on the ground floor for a soft drink, and the hostel is close to Osaka station, in a nice neighborhood with a super public bath. I really enjoyed my time there. Great place and great people!

The two guys who run this hostel are incredibly passionate and welcoming, and they made it feel like a real home in Osaka. They introduced me to local life and left me loving the city even more. I’d come back whenever I had the chance. There’s a lively atmosphere inside, a lovely ground-floor bar, and spacious, comfortable beds with curtains for privacy. The place was sparkling clean, in a convenient central Osaka location with a calm neighborhood around it. Every part of the stay won me over. Honestly, it’s one of the best hostels I’ve stayed at while traveling. I can’t recommend it enough, just go see LINDA HOSTEL 106 😃
