I enjoyed the views of Osaka from Umeda Sky Building, a 173-meter, 40-story twin skyscraper designed by Hiroshi Hara. The building has two towers joined by a circular bridge, with glass-enclosed escalators between them. The 39th and 40th floors hold the Kuchu Teien Observatory, including an indoor glass cafe and a 360-degree rooftop deck that's open to the air. The suspended escalators, called ‘Sky Walk’, are popular with visitors. At night, the rooftop floor lights up with a glow that makes it feel like walking among stars, and this is also a great spot to watch the sunset. Cafe SKY 40 on the 40th floor serves snacks and drinks. The basement has Takimi Koji, a retro-style food street. On the 39th floor, there's a place to buy heart-shaped locks in different colors, personalized with names and a visit date. You fill out a form to purchase one, though at present the Heart-shaped Padlock is only available with an online ticket that includes it. The locks go in a designated spot at the observatory. The building belongs to Sekisui House and was completed in March 1993. It's on the outskirts of the Umeda Business District in Kitaku, Osaka, about a 10-minute walk from Osaka Station. It's open daily from 9:30 AM to 10:30 PM.
The city views from Umeda Sky Building are stunning, with a full panorama in daylight and again after Osaka lights up at night. The floating garden observatory and the futuristic escalator are striking parts of the architecture, and the suspended ride up is quite an experience. Inside, I enjoyed the art displays and exhibits, which gave the visit an interesting cultural touch. Everything felt modern, clean, and organized, so it was easy to wander around at my own pace. Sunset is especially lovely, and the nighttime skyline stays with you. A great place for photos, sightseeing, and seeing Osaka from above.
The different indoor and outdoor viewing spots make this attraction well planned, with space to handle crowds and enjoy the visit. We arrived shortly before noon and only waited five minutes, but by the time we left at 1 pm, a long line had formed for the elevator up. The views make it worth going.
The view was pretty nice. I caught it just after sunset and then in the dark, and the visit itself was pleasant. The adult ticket cost 2,000 yen, but the queue took about 30 minutes. There were loads of people hoping to see the sunset, so if you had something else planned, I'd do that instead of spending the wait here. You can go to the 35th floor for free, but you still have to queue. Take care, and see you in Japan :))
The view from the top was breathtaking, and Umeda Sky Building itself looks stunning. The floating escalator is no joke. Going up, it was hard to see clearly because of the LED bars outside, even though you're surrounded by glass apart from the part you're standing on. The top is just as impressive. I didn't wait long to enter when I went, and the price seemed reasonable. The staff were helpful with directions and tickets at the entrance. Outside the photo booth, I met some nice photographers, one of whom took the second-to-last photo here. I was rushing around that day, trying to fit in Mt Fuji from the shinkansen, the Gundam statue at Daiba, Arashiyama bamboo grove in Kyoto, and this place, so I arrived late. I'd heard sunset is the best time to visit. The night view was great, but I still wonder how the sunset looks against the building's wide-open center. If I'd known, I might have changed my Kyoto route to come here first. Book online, since those times can fill up quickly, as they do for Tokyo Skytree.
