Toyoko Inn Osaka Umeda Nakatsu No.2

The room is fine for one person, and the price feels well worth it. I've stayed at a couple of Toyoko inn branches and liked them. The free breakfast in the lobby is served every morning, with a good range of fresh, tasty dishes. I don't travel just to sit in the hotel anyway.

It's a standard business hotel, with the familiar Toyoko Inn layout. A single room is very compact, but everything was clean. You can crack the window open for fresh air, and when it's shut, you don't hear the nearby highway traffic. The water pressure was good, though getting the shower to a comfortably warm temperature was difficult. The faucet seemed to swing between very hot and too cold. I was in room 1305. Breakfast didn't match the quality or variety at the Narita Airport location. I also wished I'd been on a lower floor, since the 13th floor was level with cell phone tower relays on a few nearby buildings. The free shuttle to Osaka Station runs at certain times and saves 230 yen per one-way bus trip. This location is a little cheaper than the hotels closer to Osaka Station.

The shuttle drivers were kind, and I made full use of the hotel bus in the morning and at night, especially when I was too tired to walk or take the subway. It goes to and from the Sakurabashi exit at Osaka Station, so check the schedule. I stayed two nights in Nov 2023. My room was clean but small, even with one large suitcase. Breakfast was included, and I really enjoyed the Japanese-style buffet, including Osaka specialties they cooked. There was also a hot and cold water dispenser for making your own drinks.

The free Japanese-style breakfast, complimentary WiFi, and shuttle to and from Osaka Station every 15 minutes during morning and evening rush hour were useful. Family Mart is just around the corner, though 7-11 takes about a 15-minute walk to reach. The room was very small, and the bed wasn't comfortable.
