It had been ages since I’d stayed somewhere with such a warm, homey hostel feel. The owner may not seem very cheerful at first, but there’s a family-like bond in the house, almost like parent and child. I’m sensitive to the people around me and often feel awkward around strangers. I came because I wanted to stay somewhere with a cat, and ended up drinking and chatting with the people in the house without even planning to. It was a lot of fun, and I’ve rarely had that kind of experience at other guesthouses in Japan. The place is clean, and all the essentials are there to use just like at home. The shared room can be noisy, as you’d expect when other people are around, but the bed is soft and warm enough to make up for it. Breakfast is inexpensive and high quality, and you can tell it’s prepared with care. The coffee is good too, only 100 yen. I’d definitely come back if I get the chance.

The hosts were so welcoming, and their pets are adorable. Breakfast is worth ordering too, everything was homemade, even the tofu and sausages. This place felt more like home than a hostel, and I loved it. I only wish I could've stayed longer. It's the best backpacker hostel I've been to so far.

The house has a cozy, Japanese animated-cartoon feel, with a warm, relaxed atmosphere and lots of things to look at. They have a corgi and a cat, and the owner came around in the morning to cook breakfast. The egg pudding was the best I've ever had. When we checked out in rain and snow, the owner thoughtfully lent us an umbrella. It's not a hotel, so it feels like staying in someone's home, with everyone warm and welcoming. I rarely write reviews, but I won't forget this homestay.

The walk up to Morinoki guest house goes through a quiet residential area, and I ended up loving that snowy route, even though the hill made access harder in the snow. When I return to Hokkaido, I'll definitely visit again. I stayed a few days in February 2024, and it was the coziest hostel I've been to. It felt very family-like. Mayumi-san made delicious breakfasts each morning, and she and the owner were both lovely and spoke English well.

That book collection alone makes me want to return and read more. It's quiet, homey, and so comfortable I could easily live there. I've stayed in a lot of hostels, and this is the best one for me. The breakfast was delicious too. Thanks so much for putting up with me :) Everything about the place was wonderful.
