The location felt unappealing, tucked between a main road and a forest, and the place came across more like a run-down motor inn than a pleasant hotel. Inside, our room was spacious but old, dark, creepy, and smelled unpleasant. The bathroom setup was so impractical that we ended up using the shower on the small balcony. The reception area was unwelcoming and badly arranged, with a potential hazard near the stairs. Breakfast was included but felt like a huge overcharge: it was made up of cheap frozen meals, and there were no plates even though one dish needed one. The reality of the stay fell far short of its 3.9-star rating.

The reception lady was cheerful and kind, and she was attentive, helpful, and quick to respond to all our requests. The rooms were huge, very clean, quiet, and spacious. We felt as if we had our own villa, with a garden view and parking. There was a restaurant across the street, which was handy. This was the best hotel of our Kumamoto trip, and I only wish we'd stayed longer. We'll definitely come back.

I was surprised by how large the rooms were. Yukari was genuinely generous and so helpful, including with arranging taxis. The hotel's hospitality was amazing overall. I also really liked having an actual key for my room instead of a card. 🙇♂️

The room and bathroom were spacious, perhaps because the place used to be a love hotel, and parking right outside made unloading luggage easy. The location is great, so I might return if the rates were lower. At the current price, I probably wouldn't. It was my first visit and I wasn't sure where to park. The Wi-Fi was weak, and they don't change the sheets when you stay multiple nights. I wish there'd been a discount for that, since it costs the same as one night. Sleepwear isn't provided, though apparently you can ask the receptionist for basic sleepwear.

The staff, a welcoming man and woman, were lovely. He speaks Chinese, and she can communicate in English. Laundry and a dryer are free, and for the price the stay is great value. The room was the largest I've ever had in Japan, with a living room, backyard, and separate bathroom and toilet. Its deep, roomy bathtub was easy to soak in, and the very hot water made for a super comfortable bath. Nearby restaurants and a convenience store were handy. It was quiet, and there was parking right outside, though the metal gate can't be shut.
