I stayed at Nanauraso on both of my trips to Japan, and it's easily the most memorable place I've been so far. The host is kind, and the food is really good with generous portions. Such a great ryokan experience. ❤️ The shared bathrooms and onsen-style bath were always clean, and the bath was really relaxing. Since it's a small ryokan, there's not much foot traffic through those areas. Most rooms have traditional tatami. If you're renting a car to visit Sado Island, there's parking in front of the building, and I definitely recommend having a car. I'd love to return to Nanauraso when I'm back in Sado.

The ocean view from my room was a nice bonus, and there is a gender-separated shared bath on the ground floor. The host and her attentive staff were very welcoming. Dinner and breakfast made a strong impression, although some dishes were prepared in advance and weren't warm. You can reach the hotel by public bus, but the buses don't come often.

Really kind owners, and they speak English. The guest house has great food and a beautiful sunset view, so I can definitely recommend it. There's a traditional shared bathroom, with no private bathroom. You can get here by bus, though having a car is best for exploring the island.

The landlady and her family are so warm and generous. She treated us like her own children, and there was plenty of food throughout our stay. The Japanese meals are sumptuous, so come back hungry for dinner! She'll also do her best to share information about sado island. It's a homestay-style place, with breakfast and dinner and shared bathrooms.

The owner speaks English and did so much to help us, including booking buses and tours. We really enjoyed our stay. The traditional rooms and shared bathrooms were clean, and everything was modern and nice.
