Kappo Ryokan Gohonmatsu

The couple running this inn were so warm and welcoming. I'd planned to see the nearby illuminations, but the park suddenly closed, which was disappointing. Their hospitality helped lift my spirits. Meals were a highlight. The owner's cooking was delicious, on par with a high-end restaurant, and both dinner and breakfast were great. From the dining room, the illuminated view was beautiful. Sipping a drink while looking out was really soothing. The inn is tucked into nature, far from the city, and the room looked lovely while still feeling nostalgic and retro. I could relax looking out at the natural scenery. There isn't a large public bath, but there's a private cypress bath. They only take one or two rooms a day, and the private bath is included in the plan. A great spot if you're worn out by society and want some private space.

We came here on our way back from Pleasure Forest, and the drive was tiring enough that I recommend having dinner at the inn instead of going out. The food was absolutely delicious. I'm used to traveling, and the hospitality and value here really stood out. Our child is just over a year old. They lent us a high chair in the dining room, and, since there were no other guests, even left the TV on in case our little one got restless. That thoughtfulness meant a lot. The landlady was courteous and easy to talk with, which felt reassuring. The room matched the photos. The entrance, dining room, and bathroom have all been renovated and are very clean. We were especially glad the room was warm when we arrived. The hallway heater was running in the morning too, even though we were the only guests, which was a kind touch in what must have been a freezing hallway.

The couple who run this place were so kind, and we had a really heartwarming stay. It's a little way from Sagamiko Station, the nearest station, but they offer a minibus shuttle, which was a big help on a hot day. The inn has recently been renovated and was very clean. Our room had a shower and a private cypress bath, and the cypress scent was relaxing. The seasonal menu had lots of different dishes, and everything tasted great. There seems to be something different to enjoy in each season, so I'd like to come back and unwind again. I wanted to leave a review because this was such a lovely ryokan, and I'd recommend it to anyone looking to relax.

My husband and I arrived last night, and once again I’m grateful for the warm welcome. They even arranged transport for us in heavy rain. The meals are always carefully made and delicious, and I end up so moved that I can't help having a drink. I've stayed here several times and would definitely like to return.
