City Hotel Seiunso

We booked this inn after a visit to Universal Studios Japan because it was hard to find a room for three adults together. Arriving late at night, we were glad the parking lot was still available. Breakfast was a buffet with rice, miso soup, bread, and drinks, while the side dishes were set. The futon was soft and fluffy, and we couldn't hear the toilet flushing, so noise wasn't a worry. It had a nostalgic feel, like the training camps I went to as a student. For the price, I thought it was fine.

The Harime Lunch was a satisfying meal, and I'm glad I got to try it during my stay at City Hotel Seiunso. It's served daily except Sundays and Wednesdays. Sakai used to be known as the "conger eel town," and apparently the hotel is working with a nearby conger eel wholesaler to carry on that tradition. The Three Harime Ohitsu Gozen came with conger eel prepared three ways: steamed, grilled, and boiled. The steamed fish was fluffy, the grilled version had a lovely aroma, and the boiled one was so tender it melted in my mouth. A little sansho pepper made it even better. Even the chawanmushi used conger eel in the broth all the way through. The hotel itself is clean, the staff are courteous, and the quiet setting let me relax. It's conveniently close to Minato Station, with a convenience store next door. I was happy with my stay and would like to return.

The room key is automatic-locking, so remember to take it with you when you go out. Laundry facilities are outside, and using the dryers or detergent costs extra. Minato Station is about a five-minute walk away, with convenience stores right next door and across the street (as of August 2025). The bed is very high-resilience, which could make back pain worse if you already have back problems. The bathroom and toilet are modular, like in many business hotels, and the toilet is small enough to be a bit awkward for men.
