The main drawback for me is the 1AM curfew. It’s near the nightlife area, but if you want to stay out partying until the early hours, you’re better off elsewhere. Otherwise, Sakata Green Hotel is a reasonably priced business hotel with friendly, helpful staff. Rooms are a little small, though about average for this kind of hotel, and generally have decent views of either Mount Chokai or The Sankyo Warehouses. Amenities are limited but include free Wi-Fi. The VOD service costs too much, though many people may not need it with Wi-Fi available.

It’s a small hotel in central Sakata with a nice view of the rice warehouse. The staff are nice, though the hotel is a little old.

There are no meals, but I found the area convenient enough, with ramen shops, izakayas, and convenience stores within walking distance. I stayed here for a motorcycle tour in Sakata City, and the covered free parking was useful for leaving the bike overnight. The room was dated but fine for one night. Water pressure was rather low in the unit bathroom bidet and shower, and the old-fashioned key instead of a card made locking the door a bit inconvenient. From a higher floor, there’s a lovely view across the street to the Sankyo Warehouses and along the river over the cityscape. It gave the stay a sense of travel and adventure.

Meals aren’t provided, but the price is reasonable, so I’d recommend it if you just need a place to stay. The nearest 7-Eleven is about a 9-minute walk away. My room was clean, with a nice view of the Sankyo Warehouses, and it was handy having hot water ready to use from the excellent boiler.
