Kasuga-onsen Hot Spring Kasuga’s Forest Resort

It's a Japanese-style place with tatami floors and futons. The rooms were comfortable and fine, without any frills. The food was good, though the lunches were basic. Out in the countryside, it's secluded, pleasant, and peaceful.

A great onsen hotel for cyclists. The staff were incredibly helpful and let us keep our bikes in the lobby for safekeeping. There are baths at two temperatures, plus a rotenburo and sauna, and I enjoyed the onsen. Breakfast was an awesome buffet, and dinner was Japanese kaiseki. The strict tattoo restrictions are the only drawback.

I've been using this place for about 20 years, and visited in early July 2025 for a farming experience at a nearby farm. It's also popular with students coming from far away for training camps, with a gymnasium and pool on site. The baths have both lukewarm and hot water, and the men's and women's baths switch between evening and morning so you can try both. There are also saunas and open-air baths for men and women. The water felt smooth and silky, and I thought soaking in it every day might leave my skin in even better condition. The facility isn't especially new, but it's a perfect place for a farming experience. There's an outdoor BBQ area that can still be used when it's raining, and they're very flexible about requests, which is a big help. I expect I'll visit again next summer and look forward to seeing you then. For reference, the amenities include bath towels, hand towels, yukata robes, and toothbrushes. The rooms have air conditioning, a safe, TV, refrigerator, sink, and balcony. In the bathroom there are tissues, a fan, hair dryer, razor, shampoo, conditioner, and body soap.
