Dormy Inn Sendai Ekimae

It’s a short walk from Sendai station, and the room was clean and big for a Dormy Inn. Service is always great, with yummy breakfast and ramen in the evening.

The internet was the one real drawback, it kept cutting out. The rooms seem small at first, but you get used to them. We managed fine with two adults and a child on the full-sized bed in a single room because all the doubles were booked. The top-floor onsen has indoor and outdoor pools, and unlimited free access made it great for daily relaxing. You could even do your daily shower, hair washing, or shaving there. Breakfast was great, mostly Japanese dishes with a few Western choices, and much of it was prepared on the spot. Free noodle soup is served from 9:30 to 11 pm.

The night staff were rude and curt with us, even though it was close to midnight when we got to the room. The room was filthy: wallpaper torn in several places, fuzz on the floor, and grime around the sinks and in the tub. The onsen smelled moldy, and there was mold on the bath separators. For the ¥100+ I paid, it was terrible. I won’t recommend or return. If you want this hotel brand, the Dormy Annex is a better choice. Dormy Express only has a men’s onsen, but will give you a ticket for the Dormy Annex, which you have to walk to.

I stayed at Dormy Inn on a business trip and it never disappoints. The breakfast buffet had a wonderful range and everything was good quality. The complimentary noodles were a great way to wrap up the night. I bought extra toppings and other things to add to the free noodles, and it turned out really delicious.
