Sendai Washington Hotel

For three nights, this was good value. The twin room was clean and spacious, and there’s a Family mart right beside the hotel. Sendai Station is about a 5-10 minute walk away.

The bathroom is really roomy and nice, and I slept well in the bed. There’s a lobby amenities bar with things like sheet masks and cooling foot pads. They don’t provide sleepwear, which was fine for me. I do wish they’d offer water bottles or filled jugs, since right now you have to fill a cup yourself. Still, this was one of the best hotels I stayed at on this trip.

The bed was the biggest problem for us. My wife is seven months pregnant, and she said the mattress felt like cardboard. It was the worst sleep she’s had during her pregnancy. The room was also quite small, though that’s common in Japan. We found the designated parking hard to locate and wound up parking at the train station instead. The location itself was convenient, but this four-star Sendai hotel wasn’t a good match for us. It may suit people who don’t mind a firm mattress or aren’t traveling by car.

The bathroom was the standout for me, especially the spacious wet room and bathtub, which made the stay feel relaxing. Our double room had a comfortable bed and handy controls by the headboard for about four lighting zones, though there was only one chair for two people. The room looked modern, but its narrow window faced another building, so there wasn't much of a view. It’s a well-priced modern hotel about a five-minute walk from Sendai Station once you work out the best exit. We arrived early to leave our luggage and the reception staff were welcoming and professional. When we came back later, check-in involved a questionnaire and took a little longer than at other hotels, but there was no queue and it added only 1-2 minutes. Getting two key cards was useful for my travel partner and me.
