The meal on 9 March 2026 was especially memorable because of the restaurant staff member who served us. He was cheerful, attentive, very helpful, and consistently well-mannered. His English was proficient, which made talking with him smooth and pleasant, and his warm, professional service left a lasting positive impression. Mitoya is a comfortable ryokan with thoughtfully designed facilities, clean and well-kept hot spring baths, and a deeply relaxing atmosphere. The staff were friendly and professional throughout. We also really enjoyed the fresh, flavourful food, which showcased local cooking. Between the facilities, hot springs, cuisine, and personal service, it made for a wonderful stay.

Such a lovely getaway. We enjoyed the dinner and breakfast buffet, and the amenities and onsens were great. Everyone on staff was so friendly and kind. Thank you thank you!

Our room was really spacious and comfortable, with our own onsen bath. Soaking in it in the cold weather felt wonderful. We also tried several different baths at the public onsen. The dinner course meal and breakfast buffet were both very good, and they brought a small welcome drink. All the staff were friendly and welcoming. I really enjoyed staying here!

The baths were lovely, the facility was nice, and the food was delicious. Having a free shuttle from Sendai station was great too.

The Japanese-style room made for one of the best stays I’ve had. Staff welcomed us warmly and were ready for us even though we’d missed dinner service. We tried both the public and private onsens, and they were beautiful and really nice. The location is a bit out of the way and the price is somewhat high, but given the experience, I’d pay for it again. Easily one of the nicest hotels and ryokans I’ve visited.
