Koyo Grand Hotel

This clearly decades-old hotel has a look I really like, and it’s spacious throughout, grandly decorated, and well kept. It sits on a busy main street between the shopping district and Sendai Station. Front desk staff were great and easy to talk to. There’s an air purifier, and heating is used in winter. The water pressure and hot water were reliable, and the bathroom amenities were excellent. Laundry service is available except on Sundays and holidays, with items delivered to the front desk by 10am. Great value for money. I’ll stay here again when I’m in Sendai.

I chose this hotel mainly because I wanted somewhere reliable to leave my luggage after checkout, and it proved dependable. The reception staff were wonderful and ready to help make the stay comfortable. It’s an avant-garde place with distinctive features, suited to conferences and business travelers. Room details and prices vary: some rooms have air conditioning, while others don’t. Some face the street and get a little traffic noise. That wasn’t a problem if you’re less sensitive to sound than I am.

I come to this hotel for a meeting every year, and the food, service, and rooms work well for large groups. The whole experience is a real bonus, especially if someone else is paying for the meal. I recommend it, and again, it’s best when someone else picks up the bill! You won’t be disappointed.

The staff were very friendly and accommodating, and the location is good, just a few blocks from the mall, department stores, and lots of coffee spots. The restaurants are okay, and the mini fridge was fine. There’s no microwave, but they can heat something up for you in the lobby. The lobby art is strange. It’s an old hotel that needs updating, and its policies aren’t very flexible. The beds are no bigger than full-size. In one room, my wife and I could fit, but in the last room the box spring wasn’t big enough and the mattress drooped over. I’m not complaining, just mentioning a few things for others to consider.
