Gongendaira cafe

The view was amazing on such a sunny day. The French bread with toppings and the ice cream were delicious, and I’d like to try more of their dishes. The omelet rice had a more grown-up flavor, with tomato sauce instead of ketchup, so it might not suit kids. The pasta was delicious too. After eating, we played on the beach in front and explored the tide pools. Seeing the geological strata up close was impressive, and I love geological strata. I think it’s best to visit on a sunny day!

The cafe is tucked away, as its name suggests, and the approach road is so narrow that you wonder if it’s really there. Then you arrive at a secluded spot with a striking view. Inside, the cafe has a panoramic ocean view, and the option to stay overnight really caught my interest. Beach-like stones cover the interior, while the outside is all white and blue, giving the place an otherworldly feel. It’s great for photos and worth visiting at least once. Even if you’re not staying, you can ask to see the available rooms. Next time, I’d like to visit and stay overnight too.

The omelet rice was exquisite, and the beautiful view makes this a great place to enjoy it. The staff were friendly too, so I’d definitely like to come back. It’s a hidden gem with few people around, and honestly, I kind of don’t want to tell too many people about it (lol).

It’s a little away from Shirahama’s main accommodation area. I rode there on a rented electric bicycle and found a deserted beach with the sea stretching out in front of me. I had the view all to myself. The terrace seats double as a footbath, and the pasta, desserts and drinks were all delicious. I definitely want to visit again next time I’m back in Shirahama.
