Long Vacation

Getting around to nearby sights is easy by car, and there’s a certified onsen close by. The guesthouse has two floors and an indoor elevator, which moves slowly but comes in handy. Rooms are comfortable, with their own air conditioning and heating, and the kitchen has plenty of utensils for shabu-shabu or BBQ. The Japanese-style floor mats could use more padding. It also gets very cold in the first-floor bathroom and laundry room, so heaters there would help. A bigger onsen pool would be nice, though the place still has a lot going for it.

We had such a good time here with our group. The natural hot spring, said to be good for the skin, was the highlight. The house is up on a hill with a wide sea view from the windows, and the inside feels open and uncluttered. There’s a far-infrared BBQ grill on the wood deck, plenty of cooking gear, a large massage chair and even a ping-pong table. We also picked up lovely seafood at Toretore Market and cooked it how we wanted, which made for a very satisfying meal. Shirarahama is just a short walk away. One night didn’t feel like enough, so next time I’d like to stay for two nights, perhaps in summer.

I was here on December 15, 2024 to document the place. There are massage chairs, a kitchen, and three rooms with hot springs. The heating throughout the building wasn’t enough.

We had a lovely day here with the family. It’s a really nice guesthouse.
