Pavilionsurf&lodge

I spent a couple of days here while bikepacking across the country. I loved the atmosphere and the place itself, and the staff were super friendly. One of my best stays. I'd be happy to come back.

The hosts and team at Pavilion make you feel at home and are always ready to help. The place is cared for with love, everything was clean, the beds and mattresses were great, and there's a kitchen for making your own meals. We also had a really nice beginner surf lesson with the surf teacher. I only stayed three nights but could easily have stayed much longer. The setting is beautiful, with both mountains and sea, and Shishikui has good public transport links to Tokushima and even Osaka by direct highway bus, which runs at least a few times a day. For something fun, ride the DMV dualmodevehicle "trainbus" from another station. We boarded at busstation Awa Kainan, and it's the only "trainbus" in the world. Guests can use the free bikes too, and we had fun riding around.

I kept adding nights because I liked it so much. Highly recommend!

We came for an afternoon to rent surfboards and wetsuits, and had an amazing time. They gave us wax to use for free, offered a warm shower afterward, and brought our boards down the road to ikumu beach, about 10 minutes away. ikumu is a nice spot if you're a little more advanced. The staff were so kind, and we'd like to come back. A must do on Shikoku, especially if you surf!
