Shizuoka Hotel Tokinosumika

The room and service were both pretty ordinary. They do have smoking rooms.

I had a great stay here!

It began with me asking, "Toki no Su?" even though I didn't know what it was. My former boss called me an idiot and said it was Tokino Sumika, the famous resort. The parking lot is flat and free, which is great. Across the intersection there's Tenjin-ya, where you can pick your favorite Shizuoka oden toppings, buy rice balls, and eat them in your room. The hotel has a big public bath, but it alternates between men and women. I miss the nearby "Tenjin no Yu" that used to be there, where guests got a discount just by showing their room key. The facilities feel old-fashioned, but they're well maintained. The loungewear is separate pajamas, and you can choose your pillow. This time I only saw one kind. I think they used to have about three, but I'm fine sleeping on my own pillow anyway. When you're staying several nights, you can leave your used towels and pajamas in a trash can in the hallway so nobody needs to enter your room. I like that. Rooms facing the parking lot can have a view of Mt. Fuji.
