We picked Harume because we expected to arrive late by car, after dinner service, and there are a Daily Yamazaki convenience store and Azuro supermarket nearby. We bought delicious food and ate in our spacious, comfortable tatami room. We didn’t try the dinner, but the breakfast was tasty, and we checked out right on time. Staying here worked really well for visiting Takachiho Gorge early the next morning.

The breakfast was a lovely traditional Japanese set, and I’d highly recommend this quaint ryokan for a Takachiho visit. There’s a shared private bathtub, used on a first-come, first-served basis. Rooms also have a built-in WC and a small shower area.

A very comfortable and good place to stay, and the meals were especially awesome.

I chose this place while looking for affordable accommodation in Takachiho and stayed without meals. With a car, the location is no problem. The room was Japanese-style, about 8 tatami mats in size. I found it a little hard to adjust the bath’s temperature and water flow, and wished the futon were thicker or doubled up. Since this is a tourist destination, the price is understandable, but still felt a bit high.
