I left at 6:30 in the morning because I couldn’t take the smell any longer. It was like sewage from the minute I walked into the room, and it made sleeping really difficult. Several people, including the friends traveling with me, had itchy skin, rashes, or an itchy scalp. I’m still itchy, and one friend had unusual swelling and itching around her lips. The symptoms eased after we checked out, so I suspect the room’s hygiene, bedding, or ventilation may have been involved. The building being old is one thing, but I question how well the cleaning and hygiene are managed. This was the worst, most unsanitary and awful hotel. I felt very uneasy that it was being offered as accommodation in this condition. Similar symptoms could happen to others, so anyone thinking of staying should be cautious.

For the price, we got a Japanese-style room for two that was a very good deal. The bedding was spotless, and there was no sewage smell at all, despite what some reviews say. The reception lady was kind and made a good impression. The room and toilet are compact, but the industrial-sized air conditioner heats the place up quickly. I’d suggest it for anyone who values a convenient location and good value.

I was there in January, and once I laid out a futon on the nice tatami, there wasn’t much room left. It was quite small, though perfectly okay for sleeping. The shower, toilet, and sink were all clean. The receptionist was really nice too. I didn’t try the refrigerator or air conditioner, so I can’t comment on those.

The rooms were affordable, but I couldn’t stay because the sewage smell from the drains was so bad. I think it was at least an issue on the third floor. I quietly checked out in the middle of the night and didn’t ask for a refund, then found a room across the street at a chain business hotel for less that day. The facilities are old, which can’t be helped, but they really should ask a professional to deal with the odor. It would be unfair to the next guest otherwise. Maybe that’s a harsh take, but the smell was awful 🥲
