Asahi City Inn Hotel

The price was exceptional, which made the few inconveniences easier to overlook. The room had a smell, but opening the door and stepping outside cleared it up. Check-in was very flexible, so I could arrive early. It felt more like an inn than a hotel, and despite the issues I slept comfortably. It wasn’t a total nightmare.

There are plenty of restaurants and izakayas nearby, and the downtown area is an easy walk, so it suited me for late meals out. Asahi City Inn Hotel is also convenient for sightseeing or business, and I’d like to stay again. It’s a short walk from Takaoka Station and good value, with a reasonably priced breakfast plan that was homely and satisfying. The rooms are simple but clean, with the essentials provided. Staff were courteous, and check-in and checkout went smoothly.

The bathroom tiles have a nostalgic look. It does feel old, but it’s just right if you’re not bothered by small details.

It was small and old, but clean, and the low price made that okay. Breakfast was simple and tasty. There was just one large public bath, which seemed to be for men, though I couldn’t find that written anywhere. It also seemed like a family-run place.
