The futon was so comfortable, and that thick blanket was perfect for sleeping through a snowy winter night. Everything in the bathroom and restroom was very clean. The ryokan is close to both Daibutsu temple and the station, and the hosts were lovely. When we left, they stood outside and watched us off all the way to the end of the street. It felt almost like leaving home 🥹

The hosts are the real highlight: kind, helpful, and attentive without intruding on your space. The woman of the house cooked delicious meals, and they felt like a bargain for the price of the stay. The rooms and shared facilities were clean and roomy. The building is a bit dated, but it suits Takaoka, which we found pretty slow-paced overall. It's right behind the great Buddha statue. We really enjoyed staying at this family-run traditional Ryokan and hope more travelers explore this part of Japan beyond Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka.

We stayed two nights and really appreciated the hospitality. Everything was kept clean and tidy, and when I asked about vegetarian food, the staff kindly went to the extra effort of making hearty, tasty meals for me. I'm very grateful. We also got haircuts at Emmy's Salon across from the ryokan and highly recommend their service too.

We loved our stay and found it very affordable. We arranged dinner and breakfast ahead of time, and both meals were delicious. The family running the place were thoughtful and friendly. They even served breakfast earlier for us because we had an early train, so we could eat without rushing. The ryokan has been around for 93 years, is a short walk from Takaoka station, and sits right beside the Great Buddha statue. We're grateful for the warm hospitality! 🥰🙏🏻🙏🏻
