Kiyomizu House

Renee and Motoyasu were warm, helpful hosts who went out of their way to make my friends and me comfortable. We stayed in a traditional-style house unlike any accommodation we'd experienced before. One friend had lived in Tokyo for years but had never slept in a house with tatami mats and a kotatsu with leg space underneath. It was a real eye-opener. The place is a fair way from town, but convenient if you're heading for the mountain passes, especially Haruna, Myogi, and Usui. I couldn't post my review on AirBnB, so I'm leaving it here. Hope to see you again if I make it back to Gunma.

Working with Renee has brought me a surprising amount of calm and confidence. I've started taking action on my dreams and goals while staying present in my life now. I'm learning to own my power and accept and love what is. This goes far beyond a coaching session. It's transformation.

We spent three days and two nights here, and the traditional Japanese-style architecture made the stay special. We all left satisfied. There are lots of things to do, from BBQs to hotpot parties, plus such a wide range of amenities that we couldn't fit everything in. The Sawazakis were incredibly kind. They drove us to and from the nearby supermarket, suggested places to visit, and even offered mental health care. I'm very grateful. It was absolutely fantastic, thank you!

The building itself is wonderful, and the bathroom, toilet, and kitchen have all been renovated in a comfortable way. It's in a residential neighborhood, though, and there are reportedly noise complaints from neighbors, so you need to be careful about that. It seems ideal for groups of young people or several families with kids, but it's hard to enjoy yourself if you're anxious about the noise.
