Business Hotel Hanaya

The twin room was tiny, but having an ensuite was a real bonus. It was very clean, and the location worked well for getting around. The hotel is about a 10-15 minute walk from the train station, right by a big cluster of restaurants that gets busy in the evenings. The check-in area smelled strongly of cigarettes, so I worried my room would too, but luckily it didn’t.

Small, clean room, with the train station, information center, and bus stop all nearby.

The staff at Hotel Hanaya were the best part of our stay. I tripped and fell, and my glasses needed repairing. Even though it was late in the day, the thoughtful person at the front desk called the nearby shop to check it was still open, then walked me there so I could find it. That kind of help is rare. They’d also put our bags in the rooms once they were ready. The rooms were clean and affordable, and the hotel is handy for the train and bus station and lots of tasty, inexpensive izakayas. I wish I could give it 10 stars.

Breakfast set us up well for the Kumano Kodo, and the lunch box was delicious. We stayed one night before our walk. The rooms were spacious and clean, and the hotel is close to the train station.
