Only a 5-minute walk from Kii-Tanabe Station, and the small house turned out to be complete and comfortable, just what we needed after a tiring hike. We were the only guests and enjoyed our stay. Communication with the owner was a little difficult, though. We asked about checking in early, but got a reply only on the check-in date and I missed the message. The guesthouse was locked when we arrived, so we left our bags in a station coin locker and went to explore Kumano Kodo first. It turns out you can pick up the key at Myasa, a shop near the station, which is much more convenient. We never met the owner in person. Payment was left on the table, and we put the key inside when checking out.

We had the whole house to ourselves, including a huge bedroom. The host was wonderful, spoke excellent English, and was very friendly and helpful. She offered to keep our bags for five days while we hiked the Kumano Kodo. When the kitchen hot plate didn't work, she drove over right away with a replacement.

We only needed one night, and this simple place had the essentials. We were the only guests, so the whole house was ours. The owner was very nice, and it's just a three-minute walk from the station and bus stops.

Old facilities, but clean and comfortable, and great value. It's a bare-bones guesthouse with what you need for a good night's rest. The host was welcoming and speaks English.

Such a lovely, spacious place with everything I needed, and the owner was friendly. I'd definitely stay here again.
