Hotel Nankairo

The rooms are more spacious than the town’s business hotels, so this worked well for a one-night stay. It’s convenient for sightseeing, too, since it’s close to the station. The price is excellent, though I can’t really call the place clean, even trying to be generous.

It’s handy for Kii-Tanabe Station, and cheap enough for a one-night stay. The facilities are dated, there’s no washlet on the toilet, and the shower water didn’t get very warm. For a short stay, the good location makes it fine.

I booked through Jalan and paid by card at the property. The nightly parking charge was 600 yen. There are plenty of convenience stores and izakayas nearby, along with other places to go, so finding somewhere to eat wasn’t a problem. It’s close to Kii-Tanabe Station and hard to miss. Still, the elevator at the end of the corridor from the main street up to reception could make the layout a little confusing on your first visit. I had no trouble with my stay.

This is a multi-tenant building, and the facilities felt far too old for me. The faucets twist instead of using levers, the toilet seats are cold plastic with no heating, and the chairs are plastic pipe chairs. Rain also leaks in through the windows, and noise from the next room comes through very clearly. Parking is 600 yen a night, mostly on gravel. Maybe this is normal around here, but it wasn’t really for me.
