The rooms are at least as good as a guesthouse. The food was delicious and the wine was good too, so it felt like great value. I would have appreciated a little more explanation of the dishes, though. Maybe they’re trying not to bother guests. They encourage everyone to have a lively meal together, which makes it less suitable for solo travelers. Then again, I suppose that’s what you expect from an auberge.

Breakfast was a risotto rich with seafood flavor, and it was really delicious. Dinner had a starter, fish, meat, bread, and dessert, with a satisfying amount of food that went well with drinks. For 10,000 yen with both breakfast and dinner included, the price is a real bargain, and I’ll definitely return. This auberge sits on a quiet rise near the western end of the Boso Peninsula, a little way back from the shore. The room had enough space to relax, with its own bath and toilet. The staff were pleasant to deal with, with none of the negativity mentioned in other reviews.

There was a cute dog lying by the reception chair, and he was very well behaved. The room matched the cute exterior, and it was roomy and comfortable. I loved soaking in the jacuzzi bath with the forest outside the window and birds singing. The food was all delicious, and I enjoyed the sparkling and white wines, though I’m no wine expert. I can’t handle alcohol, so I passed on the red wine afterward, but the meal still left me very satisfied. The breakfast risotto was amazing too, with the rice cooked to just the right firmness, as someone else mentioned. The price was so reasonable for such a good meal that I wondered if it could really be right. I’d definitely stay again.

The entrance is really cute, and I had a very comfortable stay. The chef’s food was fantastic, and the waiters served everything promptly and pleasantly. The food and service were top-notch, so I’d definitely like to come back to this hostelry.
